"Clackamas County Commissioner Ben West’s father started a $33-an-hour job last month...The county did not post the job..."
Noelle Crombie, The Oregonian, March 6, 2026
“After the interview, I spoke to the (finance) director and said thank you and it looks like there’s a good fit here,” Ben West said.

SONYA’S PRIORITIES:
Restore Integrity
“As an attorney, I have effectively resolved many disputes. As a former County Commissioner, I have facilitated consensus and team building among our community leaders, creating effective teams that help move Clackamas County forward.”
Fight for Affordability
“When I look around our community, I see too many people struggling to afford the basics. Parents work longer hours, only to see their family’s grocery costs increase. Seniors cut back on spending, only to see their utility bills rise. We pay our taxes but aren’t getting enough back from country and government in return. Clackamas County voters deserve a choice between the failing status quo and someone who will fix what’s broken and fight to lower costs. That’s why I ask for your support.”
Honest Leadership
“My leadership reflects the values of our community and the ability to forge consensus is critical during this time.”
Results Before Politics
“It is when we focus on making government work for all of us that we build success for our community.”
No Tolling. Ever.
“I am strongly opposed to tolling because it would have a disproportionate and disparate effect on the residents of Clackamas County.”
Safety For All
“As a family law attorney and former public prosecutor, I know the importance of delivering public safety with a focus on family justice and the prevention of domestic violence.”
